A massive landslide obstructed the Narayangadh-Muglin road section at Charkilo area in Chitwan district on Wednesday, leaving thousands of passengers in the lurch.
The landslide occurred at around 3:30pm.
“We could not clear the debris immediately after the landslide as landmass kept falling,” said engineer Shiva Khanal of Narayangadh-Muglin Road Project. “Later we used two heavy machines but could not clear the debris completely. We will try to remove the debris early morning on Thursday, as it will be risky to continue work during the night.”
The landslide obstructed around 40-metre stretch of the road. “We wanted to ensure that stranded vehicles could pass to safer places,” he added.
