Dozens of infrastructure projects in Rolpa district have been left incomplete.

Construction of roads, bridges, drinking water projects, government office buildings and schools, many of them that began more than a decade earlier, has failed to complete due to the carelessness of contractors and concerned authorities.

The construction of 75-km Sulichaur-Thabang road has stopped due to lack of budget for opening a track at Sirkyang cliff in Seram. The construction of a bridge at Madikhola, which was supposed to connect 26 VDCs in western Rolpa with Libang, has also been left incomplete for the last eight years.

The contractor company that had taken up the task of bridge construction is out of contact.

Construction of a building for Jaljala Multiple Campus has also not completed even though the work started seven years ago.

According to the District Technical Office (DTO), dozens of projects in the district have been left incomplete, mainly because of budget issue. 

The government has  not  been allocating sufficient budget to complete these projects, according to the DTO.

Kedar Sharma, a government engineer, said the other reason for the delay in completion of these projects is lack of regular monitoring by the concerned authorities.

The government had started various development and infrastructure projects in Rolpa after the peace process. Most of the projects were set in the areas that were ravaged by a decade long civil war.
