Activists of Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha and Sanghiya Samabesi Madhesi Gathabandhan burnt the copies of amendments and staged demonstration at Jana-Aandolan Chok in the district.
According to Rastriya Madhes Samajbadi Party Saptari Chairman Gajendra Mandal, they burnt the amendment because it did not addressed the issues raised by agitating Madhesi Morcha such as two states comprising entire Tarai region.
Mandal also said that constitution amendment was just the government’s conspiracy to give false impression to the international community that it attempted to address the concerns of Madhesis.
Speaking in a protest assembly after burning the copies of amendments, Morcha leaders said the protest will continue as Saturday’s amendment did not address their demands.
