Myagdi landslide threat: Authorities set to relocate 80 families
Eighty families of Okharbot-8 and 9 in the district are being relocated as the settlements have developed fissures due to the recent earthquakes. The District Disaster Relief Committee (DDRC) decided to relocate the families to Soledeurali in the same VDC. The DDRC also provided 80 tarpaulins to the affected households on Friday.
Chief District Officer Tek Bahadur KC said they are going to relocate the families as settlements are going to be swept away. “We also have deployed a technical team to identify additional threats,” said KC, adding that report on the study will be prepared by Sunday.
Local residents said all houses in the area have tilted after the quake. District Soil Conservation Office chief Diwakar Paudel said around 1,000 households in 38 VDCs are prone to landslides. He said floods and landslides have also posed threats to people living near Kaligandaki, Myadi Khola and Rahughat.
