At around 11pm, a landslide swept away her house. She sustained critical injuries in the incident and her three children are still missing.
“I attempted to wake the children and take them to a safer place soon after I knew that landslide hit our house but to no avail. We were swept away. After about five minutes, my head was stuck in mud between two boulders,” Rai said from her bed at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan.
“When I regained consciousness, I realised that my leg was fractured. I cried for a help but no one was there to rescue,” she said.
