NEPSE dips slightly as trading volume climbs above Rs9 billion
Despite a drop in the benchmark index, overall market turnover rises compared to the previous session.
Post Report
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell by 8.14 points on Wednesday, closing at 2,623.83, down 0.30 percent from the previous trading day. This marks the third consecutive session of market decline, though the rate of drop was lower compared to the last two days.
Despite the dip in the index, total turnover increased to Rs9.37 billion, up from Rs7.57 billion in the previous session. A total of 26.44 million shares were traded across 79,777 transactions on the day.
Of the companies traded, 107 saw a rise in their share prices, while 136 registered losses.
Among the 13 trading subgroups, hydropower, microfinance, mutual funds, and the trading sector posted gains. However, declines in the other sectors dragged the overall index into negative territory.
The modest decline in the NEPSE index alongside a boost in daily turnover suggests sustained investor engagement despite sectoral weaknesses.
