Laxmi InterContinental, the authorized distributor of Hyundai automobiles in Nepal, launched the 2017 edition of the popular compact hatchback Grand i10 in the domestic market on Thursday.
The Hyundai Grand i10 facelift has arrived in the Nepali market a month after it was launched in India. The car was unveiled by Miss Nepal 2016 Asmee Shrestha amid a ceremony in Thapathali.
The i10 Magna Grand costs Rs2.70 million, Magna AT (automated transmission) Rs3.10 million, Sportz Grand Rs2.90 million, Sportz Option Rs3.06 million, Sportz Option AT Rs3.46 million and Asta Grand Rs2.26 million.
The car features a new radiator grille design, LED DRLs (daytime running lights), a 7-inch audio-video display screen that synchronises with iOS and Android
phones and rear A/C vents, among others.
“The new Grand i10 is simple, iconic and sporty,” said Diwakar Regmi, sales manager of the company. “With the new engine you don’t have to compromise on either mileage or pickup.”
The Grand i10’s engine, a 1.2L Kappa Dual VTVT Petrol generates 83 PS power at 6,000 revolu tions per minute (RPM) and 11.6 KGM torque at 4,000 RPM. Features like alternator management system and reduced noise, vibration and harshness help improve fuel efficiency while the air curtain helps improve the aerodynamics.
The highlights of the new bold and stylish 2017 Grand i10 are its high-tech features and improved fuel efficiency, according to Regmi. The new refinements include a cascade design front grille and aerodynamic profile, 56 litres of storing space and automated cooling system. For safety, the car is equipped with reverse parking sensors and camera along with an anti-lock braking system.
The front design contains a redesigned new bumper, air curtain and radiator grille design while the rear contains dual tone bumper with stylish reflectors. The wheels are 14-inch dual tone made from diamond cut alloys, which improve both style and efficiency.
The new i10 comes in six colours—orange, black, silver, red, blue and white. According to the company, the main target groups of the car are working professionals, business personalities, first time buyers or upgraders mainly in the age group of 30-50 years.
“Our main target competitors are the Swift, Figo and Polo,” said Rupesh Bhatta, deputy general manager of Laxmi InterContinental. “Hyundai has a track record of launching successful cars and we hope to continue it.”
