Samsung rolls out S6, S6 Edge smartphones
Samsung Electronics on Thursday launched the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones in the domestic market. The S6 is priced at Rs77,900 while the Galaxy S6 Edge has a price tag of Rs94,900.
Unveiling the sets, Pranaya Ratna Sthapit, head of the HHP Division, said the new products from Samsung would transform the smartphone market in Nepal and offer a superlative experience, far ahead of any other device in the market.
“Samsung is raising the bar for design, craftsmanship and performance through the new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices. With our philosophy of Design with Purpose, the team at Samsung has combined metal and glass using cutting-edge R&D to develop the most beautiful, sleek yet powerful device in a stunning new design,” he said.
The phones have a metal body and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 glass. The S6 Edge has a curved display on both sides. The two devices come with a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED pixel density of 577 ppi. They are equipped with a 16 MP rear camera with F1.9 lenses and high resolution sensors on the 5 MP front facing camera.
“Since Samsung Nepal opened pre-bookings two weeks ago, we have received 350 advance orders compared to 300 for the S5, and we are sure that sales of the S6 will surpass S5 sales threefold,” said Yubeom Won, vice-president of Samsung.
The phone also comes with a Quick Launch feature that gives users direct access to the camera from any screen in just 0.7 seconds by double clicking the home key button, said the company. The S6 and S6 Edge feature WPC and PMA certified wireless charging technology, and the
company claims that customers will be able to use the phone for about 4 hours after 10 minutes of charging.
The phone is powered by a Quad 2.1 GHz +Quad 1.5 GHZ octa-core processor with 64-bit platform, new LPDDR4 memory system and UFS 2.0 flash memory to provide higher performance and enhanced memory speed with lower power consumption, according to the company. The phone runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS and has 3 GB RAM.
