The Saptari District Prison is accommodating almost triple the number of inmates than its actual capacity. The prison, which has the capacity to accommodate around 125 inmates, has 315 inmates including 18 women, officiating jailor Satya Narayan Yadav said. The overcrowding has caused inconvenience to the inmates. Yadav said the 67-year-old prison facility, which is made of stone and mud, is at a risk of collapsing. The prison needs to be reconstructed, he added. (RSS)
