Russian Cultural Centre marks 95th anniversary of poet Gamzatov
Russian Centre of Science and Culture and Nepal Russia Literary Society on Sunday jointly organised a program “Literary Evening and Opening of Photo Exhibition dedicated to 95th Anniversary of Rasul Gamzatov”.
Russian Centre of Science and Culture and Nepal Russia Literary Society on Sunday jointly organised a program “Literary Evening and Opening of Photo Exhibition dedicated to 95th Anniversary of Rasul Gamzatov”.
During the programme organised in the Capital, Chancellor of Nepal Academy Ganga Prasad Uprety, nephew of Gamzatov and Permanent Representative for Republic of Dagestan under the President of the Russian Federation Gamzatov Gamzat Gadzhiyevich and Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture Yuliya Androsova shed light on the geographical and cultural similarities between Nepal and Dagestan and also focused on strengthening their cardial relationship.
Likewise, President of Nepal Russia Literary Society Prof Dr Jangab Chauhan talked about the personality and work of Gamzatov and also recited some poems of Gamzatov in Russian along with Nepali translation.
Similarly, writer Momila Joshi, Vice President of Nepal Russia Literary Society Vishnu Bahadur Singh, General Secretary of Nepal Russia Literary Society Chandrakanta Acharya also recited Gamzatov’s poems.
Meanwhile, a bust of Gamzatov has been installed in Nagarkot, which was inaugurated on Monday.
Poet Gamzatov had visited Nepal three times in his lifetime and two of his poetic works, “Kumari” and “Jeevan Chakra”, devoted to Nepal, has been translated in Nepali by writer Krishna Prakash Shrestha and published by the Nepal Academy.
