A Nepali man was found buried after his murder at Nepal-India border near Jhapa on Friday morning.
Area Police Office, Gaurigunj Inspector Tekendra Poudel said the body of Alkachan Rajbanshi, 55, of Korobari in Gaurigunj Municipality-2 in Jhapa district, was found at Kaansghari in Luhagara of Kisangunj District in India. The body was found buried some 500 metres inside the Indian territory.
According to the police, Rajbanshi was missing for the past four days.
Rajbasnshi’s son Udaylal Rajbanshi said that his father had gone to Kharkhariya in Kisangunj to receive treatment from a witch doctor.
The police have also recovered Rajbanshi’s spectacles, belt and cap from the burial site which Udaylal confirmed belonged to his deceased father, who was also a shaman.
Poudel said the body is being exhumed from the burial site. He further informed that since the body was found on the Indian side, security personnel from Kodobari-based Indian Police Beat are leading the excavation process.
