First blood wins short video competition
An animated movie ‘First Blood’ produced by the RR Shree School of Technology won the first prize in the short video competition targeted at sensatising the public on the issue of dignified menstruation.An animated movie ‘First Blood’ produced by the RR Shree School of Technology won the first prize in the short video competition targeted at sensatising the public on the issue of dignified menstruation.
Rajowati directed by Rewati Gurung bagged the second prize while Ashma Gautam directed Reimagined managed to get the third position. The audience award went to Madhu Khadka for the film ‘Breaking the Stigma’. The winners of the competition organised by DCA Nepal were awarded with cash and certificates amid a programme of Nepal Menstrual Health Management Alliance.
The competition was held to show dignified menstruation plays a fundamental role in enabling young women and girls to reach their full potential in education in addition to their dignified life. Hundreds of girls miss their school during periods.
The four films that won the competition portrayed the current status of the menstrual stigma of Nepal and stressed it as a natural process. The films were selected by a team of jury members comprising Radha Poudel, an author and activist, film maker Deepak Rauniyar and WASH expert Guna Raj Shrestha
