Mukadur Hussain, who was doing time on charge of visa overstay, escaped from prison at around 2 am, leaving the jail staffers and security personnel in panic. According to the jail authorities, the inmate managed to run away because he was placed in the DRC Bloc instead of a prison cell.
Initially, the prison staffers assumed that Hussain had gone to the toilet. It was a while before they realised that Hussain had escaped from the prison. A team from the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, was deployed to search for him immediately.
According to a source, Hussain was nabbed from near Pulchok, Lailtpur, at around 7:30 am on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the escape of an inmate from a strongly guarded prison has perplexed everyone, and raised questions on who could have helped him in the jailbreak. The prison management has formed a probe committee under Assistant Chief District Officer (CDO) Damaru Niraula of Lalitpur to look into the incident.
