Lawmakers of Nepali Congress obstructed a provincial parliament meeting of province 7 on Friday over declaring the provincial capital.
Protests began in the temporary capital Dhangadi after a parliamentary committee had recommended the province name as Sudurpaschim and Godawari in Kailali district as its capital.
Lawmakers of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) also supported in the obstruction today. The meeting was postponed for 1 pm today after Thursday’s meeting was also obstructed over the same issue.
NC lawmakers have argued that the proposed capital was a dense forest area and the committee which recommended the name and place for capital did so without adequate homeworks.
