Police have arrested a couple for their alleged involvement in peddling controlled pharmaceutical drugs from Hetauda, in Makwanpur district.
The suspects have been identified as Gopi Syangbo, 37, of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-19, and his wife, 29, Sarita Syangbo.
Police seized 90 ampoules of diazepam-500, 40 ampoules of buprenorphine-500, and 77 ampoules of Phenergan-500, from the Syangbo couple’s residence. Police claimed the drugs were found hidden in polythene bags when they raided the house after receiving a tip-off.
Gopi fled after the police began raiding the house. He was arrested on Thursday and his wife was arrested on Tuesday. A case under Narcotic Drug Control Act 2033 has been lodged against the couple.
