Chand-Maoist's Rolpa leader Subedi arrested

He was arrested on Monday on the charge of disturbing the peace from a party programme being held at Dhawang in Rolpa Municipality-10.
Police will carry out the further investigation against him after court issues a remand order.
Rolpa District Police Chief DSP Deepak Khadka confirmed the arrest of Subedi for his alleged involvement in anti-government activities that disturbed law and order situation. “Subedi has been arrested for investigation into certain incidents,” said DSP Khadka.
Believed to be a confidant of party General Secretary Chand, Subedi was attending the funeral rites of NCP district leader Dhan Bahadur Thapa’s father before his arrest.
Police have intensified the arrests of NCP leaders for their involved in violence during the local, provincial and federal elections last year. Earlier, police had arrested NCP spokesperson Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma from Kathmandu. Police has been investigating the cases filed against him in various districts.
This is the second arrest of Subedi. He is the son of ruling Nepal Communist Party’s former lawmaker Jhakku Prasad Subedi. Arrested during the election, he was released after 28 days in detention.
Subedi, who was long associated with Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led UCPN-Maoist, had joined the Chand led Maoists three years ago.
