An ill person heading to a hospital for his medical treatment along the Beni-Jomsom road section has gone missing after falling into Kaligandaki River on Monday.
According to police, Bam Bahadur Purja, 46, of Bhurung in Annapurna Rural Municipality-2, fell into the river while crossing a landslide hit section on foot at Bhirkote in Ghaar of Annapurna Rural Municipality-6.
Accompanied by his spouse Mithu Purja, Bam was on his way to the district headquarters to get treatment for his stomach ailment in an ambulance owned by the rural municipality. He decided to get off the ambulance with his wife and walk after the vehicle got stuck due to landslides at several places along the Beni-Jomson road. It was then he fell into the raging river.
