Gorkha
Police on Thursday arrested Yogendra Kumal, the Gorkha district in-charge of the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal.
Kumal was arrested from the Dashkilo area in Gorkha Municipality-12 on extortion charge.
“We have received complaints that he had been extorting traders in the name of donation to the party,” said Superintendent of Police Bimal Basnet.
Kumal's arrest comes two days after the party’s central Spokesperson Khadka Bahadur Bishwokarma was held from the Capital on the same charge. Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu arrested former minister Bishwokarma, alias Prakanda, from Chalnakhel, Lalitpur.
Police claim that the party has been extorting businesspersons in particular across the country.
