A Boarding school office assistant claims the principal and assistant principal dismissed her from job “for being a member of the Dalit community’.
The terminated employee Binda Bishwokarma worked for Saraswati Boarding School in Diktel, the district headquarters of Khotang. “Principal Roshan Dhakal and Assistant Principal Lalit Kumar Basnet dismissed me from service on June 10 after they came to know my caste,” said Binda.
“Roshan and Lalit Sir would drink tea prepared by me. Both of them should be booked for mistreating me based on caste,” she said in a letter submitted to the District Coordination Committee Chief Babi Chamling and Chief District Officer Surendra Raj Poudel demanding action against the guilty.
In response, Chamling said preliminary enquiry shows Bishwokarma has become a victim of caste discrimination. He assured punitive action against the accused after further investigation.
