Jumla
Even as the government is said to be preparing to airlift Dr Govinda KC to Kathmandu for treatment, the anti-corruption crusader has refused to leave Jumla until his demands are addressed.
The senior orthopedic surgeon has been on an indefinite hunger strike at the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) here since June 30, seeking major reforms in the country’s medical education sector.
“I heard the news that the government is sending a helicopter to take me to Kathmandu. I am ready to die in the sacred place of Karnali, but won’t go to Kathmandu until all of my demands are addressed,” Dr KC said on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, doctors involved in Dr KC’s treatment said his health is deteriorating progressively. (PR)
