Kantipur journalist Yadav Thapaliya passed away during the course of treatment at Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) on Friday. He was admitted to Sinamangal-based hospital on Wednesday. 

Thapaliya, Assistant Senior Sub-editor at Kantipur daily, had been taking rest at home since last Sunday after he was taken ill seemingly due to viral fever.

According doctors involved in his treatment, Thapaliya was infected with viral influenza. Doctors this morning told the family that no medicine available in Nepal could cure his disease. 

“We tried all the medicines available in Nepal. But we couldn’t save him,” said a member of Thapaliya’s family, quoting a doctor attending on him. 

A permanent resident of Kavre, Thapaliya is survived by his wife and two daughters. His body will be cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat later this evening according to Hindu tradition.
