A 30-year-old woman and her four year-year-old son were found dead in Madhavnarayan Municipali-ty-1 in Rautahat district on Friday evening.
Police on Sunday said Marita Yadav and her son Raman were found dead of apparent poisoning. Superintendent of Police (SP) Rabindra KC said the case looked like a murder-suicide at first, but since Marita’s brother-in-law Dipendra was missing from the village, they could be looking at a murder case.
The police statement of Marita’s brother Jaya Prakash also suggests that Dipendra may have a hand in the incident.
Jaya Prakash has told police that Dipendra used to torture Marita over the issue of money that her husband used to send from Malaysia.
Dipendra’s wife has claimed that he had left for Baigania in India to buy essentials.
SP KC said they were treating Dipendra as a person of interest in the case as he had not returned home.
The bodies of Marita and Raman were taken to Gaur Hospital for post-mortem.
