At a news conference organised by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Province no 4 here on Monday, Dahal said that discussions were underway at the leadership level for the same as the election are becoming costlier.
Saying that there was a significant role of communists in the establishment of democracy and republic in the country, Dahal said that active participation of communists was necessary to strengthen them.
The former Prime Minister said that an agreement regarding directly elected executive head was nearly reached in the first Constituent Assembly and added that it had been decided to hold the election under the existing model for the time being bearing in mind the then political equation and changing context during the second Constituent Assembly.
Dahal said that the NCP and the party that had recently joined the government are in favour of directly elected executive chief, it was the matter of discussion at people and party-level. "It is not the current agenda of discussion, however".
Stating that budget at province-level and local-level would be increased gradually in coming days, NCP Co-Chairman Dahal expressed the view that prosperity and development are the challenge of the government as political stability has been established along with party unification.
