Dr KC: No reply to my query on CJ citizenship
Dr Govinda KC has not recieved any response from Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli even two days after his request asking the head of country’s judiciary to make public his citizenship details.Dr Govinda KC has not recieved any response from Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli even two days after his request asking the head of country’s judiciary to make public his citizenship details.
In the application he had filed on Sunday at the Secretariat of Chief Justice, Dr KC has requested CJ Parajuli to provide his academic transcript and transfer certificate that he used to gain higher degrees and his appointment as justice of the apex court.
“I have not received any reply as yet. If CJ Parajuli denies information, we should all be clear that his official documents might be false,” Dr KC said, warning of another round of hunger strike. “I will begin my hunger strike from March 13 against the anomalies of CJ Parajuli.”
Dr KC has been protesting against CJ Parajuli after the apex court on January 7 decided to reinstate Dr Shashi Sharma as the dean of the Tribhuvan University Institute of Medicine. Following the court decision, the senior orthopaedic surgeon had announced an indefinite hunger strike, saying that the ruling to reinstate Dr Sharma was a “systematic effort to affiliate new [medical] colleges and to imperil country’s medical education”. He launched death fast on January 8, demanding CJ Parajuli’s resignation and action against him. But he was rounded up the same evening on a court contempt charge, leading to his trial in the court.
Dr KC has since sought probe into the citizenship and academic certificates of CJ Parajuli, charging him with lacking ‘proper’ transfer certificate and using multiple dates of birth in official documents. The CJ is found to have submitted multiple documents to government bodies, showing four different dates of birth.
Meanwhile, a single bench of CJ Parajuli on Tuesday issued a show case order to Dr KC in the contempt of court case.
Responding to the writ filed by Govinda Bohora, who has stated that Dr KC’s statements are fabricated and try to sully the image of Supreme Court, CJ Parajuli has asked Dr KC to clarify on the issue.
“I have not got any formal letter on this matter. Also, there is a conflict of interest in this case. CJ Parajuli does not have the right to issue an order against me at a time when he himself is under investigation.”
