A total of 50,000 people are scheduled to recite the messages of Shakyamuni Gautam Buddha in Kathmandu next month.

The messages of Lord Buddha would be recited by 50,000 people en masse on February 10 to set a new Guinness World Records.

People from across the country would join the programme in Kathmandu for the recitation of the Buddha's messages to be held under the banner of 'Buddha was born in Nepal'.

Organiser Dipak Sharma Bajgain said that the programme is being organised to publicise Nepal as the land of Buddhist philosophy and of Buddha's message across the world. "The programme is being organised for nation and nationality and set the record in Nepal's name by pronouncing the Buddha's messages and 'Dhhamapad'," Bajgain said.

Currently, India has set such records in the Guinness World Records. In India, 46,660 people had recited the 'Jan Pana' of 16th century poet Poothanam to keep the world records.

At a programme organised in the Capital city on Thursday, Minister for Information and Communications Mohan Bahadur Basnet announced to provide Rs 51,000 on his own to make the programme a success. RSS
