Nepali Congress (NC) youth leader Bishwo Prakash Sharma has been appointed as the new spokesperson of the party. NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba appointed Sharma to the post on Tuesday, said Deuba’s secretariat.

Sharma’s appointment to the post comes at a time when some NC youth leaders have been demanding the party summon the Mahasamiti meeting to change the leadership following the party’s defeat in the recently held federal parliament and provincial assembly elections.

Sharma got involved in politics from his early life. He joined NC aligned Nepal Student Union while he was in high school. He became the president of Free Student Union while he was in class eight in Dhulabari School of Jhapa. In 1986, he became the president of Mechi Multiple Campus. Later he became the general secretary of Nepal Student Union and finally the central member of the NC.
