Siraha
An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was set off in Lahan, Siraha, on Thursday. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
Police said they were after a suspect who had left a bicycle with the IED at the town’s main thoroughfare, just 150 metres south of Lahan Area Police Office.
Police Inspector Yugeshwor Raut said they found pamphlets of Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (Revolutionary) strewn from the blast site.
The pamphlet called for freedom of Tarai from “Nepali ruler” while also calling for greater representation of Madhesi people in the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and public offices.
The incident comes barely a week after the elections for House of Representatives and provincial assembly. (PR)
