A Nepal Army soldier reportedly drowned in a river inside the Bardiya National Park while on a patrol duty on Thursday.
Hemraj Gham, 34, and two other soldiers were out on patrol when he is said to have drowned in the Khauraha river. Ashok Kumar Bhandari, the park’s acting conservation officer, confirmed the soldier’s death.
Gham, who hails from Kureli Rural Municipality in Rolpa district, had joined the military 13 years ago. His body was recovered and sent for autopsy.
