Newly appointed Chief Secretary Lok Darshan Regmi has said that attention would be given on making the civil service committed to constitution implementation. 

“My major work and responsibility is to facilitate the implementation of the government’s policies and decisions. I will remain dedicated to this work and this is my priority,” he said while assuming office on Wednesday. 

A meeting of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) on Monday appointed Regmi to the top bureaucratic post. He succeeds Rajendra Kishor Chhetri who retired on Tuesday due to age bar. 

Regmi was serving as the home secretary before his appointment .

Regmi on Wednesday signed on and endorsed papers related to constituting a study committee for making the service at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers more organised and efficient. The secretary at the OPMCM looking after governance reforms is the coordinator of the committee. The committee has been given two months to prepare a report from the date of starting work.

Chief Secretary Regmi was welcomed by secretaries at the OPMCM and special class officers of various ministries.
