Thirty-three-year-old Amit, a textile trader from the Indian town of Bhimnagar, was kidnapped from Kanchanpur Bazaar in Saptari on October 15.
He was returning home after collecting payments from local traders.
Amit’s family had reported about his disappearance to Saptari District Police Office on the very day, suspecting that he might have been abducted.
Police rescued Amit from Sitapur in Kanchanrup Municipality-12 on Friday night and in the process arrested three kidnappers.
Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Singh said Amarnath Biswas, Pushkar Mahato and Shailendra Kumar Gupta of Kanchanrup were arrested for their involvement in the kidnapping.
Two homemade firearms and a car with Indian registration were also seized from the trio, he added.
