Police fired 11 rounds of tear gas shells in order to bring the situation under control following a clash between police and locals in the district headquarters Gaur on Saturday.
The incident took place after Dev Nath Shah, a resident of Garuda municipality-1 was arrested on the charge of stealing a motorcycle from in front of the Nepal Electricity Authority office in Gaur.
The theft took place four days ago but Shah was arrested by a police team last night.
Soon after the arrest, relatives and villagers started pelting stones at the police personnel and their vehicle, according to Police Inspector at the Area Police Office, Keshav Regmi. Police have arrested five people involved in the vandalism. RSS
