The protesting drivers have parked 60 garbage trucks at the landfill facility and refused to work, unless the authorities get rid of the time system for garbage trucks to make daily disposal routes at specific hours of the day.
Currently, garbage lorries can only enter Sisdole between 6am and 2pm; 6am till 12pm during public holidays.
The drivers say they should be allowed to drive their trucks to and from Sisdole after 2pm as well.
Just a week before the Dashain festival, the locals of Okharpauwa, which is close to Sisdole landfill, had also obstructed waste disposal putting forth demands, including construction of an alternative facility.
