Around 500 buffaloes sacrificed in Kankali Bhagwati Temple
Around 500 buffaloes were sacrificed in Kankali Bhagwati Temple at Bhardaha in Saptari district on Friday on the occasion of Navami, the ninth day of Dashain.

Around 500 buffaloes were sacrificed in Kankali Bhagwati Temple at Bhardaha in Saptari district on Friday on the occasion of Navami, the ninth day of Dashain.
The ritual killing of altogether 493 buffaloes and around some 12,000 of goats and he goats took place to appease the Goddess Durga whose nine different forms are worshipped during the Dashain, including on Navami.
A huge crowd of local devotees as well as those from neighboring Indian towns also made the sacrifices on the ceremony, according to the Priest of the Temple, Mukunjaya Jha.
It is believed that by making animal sacrifices, the wishes of the devotees get fulfilled.
