A teenage girl in labour pain died in Parni village of Himali Rural Municipality-6, Bajura district, on Thursday.

Though 16-year-old Siddha was taken to Kolti Primary Health Centre on Wednesday evening, doctors at the health facility said they could not save her because it was too late by the time she was brought.

Her family kept her at home for four days even after she complained of stomach pain and carried her to the health post on the fifth day. The health post is at seven-hour walking distance from her residence.

“She couldn’t be saved because she was brought late at the health post and there were not necessary equipments for caesarean delivery,” said Dr Bijaya Kumar Sah.
