The Judicial Council on Wednesday recommended three names for the Supreme Court justices. 

High Court Judges Bam Bahadur Shrestha, Dambar Bahadur Sahi and Tanka Moktan have been recommended as SC justices. The constitution has provisioned 29 justices at the apex court. Similarly, the JC on Wednesday transferred 197 district judges. 

The Election Commission (EC) said it had given the consent for the transfers. “It should have been done in May but was delayed due to the enforcement of election code of conduct. We gave the consent after the JC said it cannot wait until December,” said Election Commissioner Sudhir Shah.
