Nuwakot
Police has arrested two men with 8kg of contraband gold smuggled from China via the Rasuwagadhi border.
The duo— Deepak Ghale and Phurbu Tamang— was arrested from Bhainse in Nuwakot district on Saturday.
Ghale and Tamang were traveling in a motorcycle to Kathmandu with the smuggled gold biscuits, Superintendent of Police Birendra Basyal said at a press meet on Sunday.
Police had been tipped-off about smuggling of gold, he added. SP Basyal said the two suspects are being questioned for there is a high chance of them being part of a large gold smuggling racket. (PR)
