Three children died when a house collapsed due to a flood in Rapti River in Baijapur village of Sonari Rural Municipality on Saturday.

According to Banke District Police Office SP Krishna Bahadur Tamang, the house belonging to one local Kamilal Tharu collapsed in the flood. Tharu’s wife and their three children got buried under the house.

It is learnt that the dead bodies of the children have been found while the mother is still missing.

The district’s Sarsasari, Dhampur, Trepari, Dudhawa and Narainapur villages are inundated by the flood triggered by incessant rain.

In Banke’s Khajuri Village Council, flood water has clogged the highway halting vehicular movement in the region.
