One person died when security forces opened fire at protestors in Darjeeling no Saturday morning.

Protestors had taken out a khukuri rally this morning when police interfered and opened fired at them.

The deceased has been identified as Ajay Chhetri. Chhetri was shot at his head and died while receiving treatment in Siliguri, informed Gorkha Janamukti Morcha's vice chairperson Bishal Chhetri.

Few other protestors were injured in the incident.

With today's death, the total death toll in the Gorkhaland protest has reached 10.
