A Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) candidate for the upcoming local level elections was hurt when a group of three persons attacked him at Itahari Sub Metropolitan City-8 in Sunsari last night.

The assailants on a motorcycle intercepted RPP ward chairman candidate from the Itahari Sub Metropolitan City-9, Shyam Pokharel, on his way to home in the locality and attacked him with a ‘Dau’ (a kind of knife-like weapon used to mince meat), said police.

Pokharel has sustained injury to his back in the attack, according to his brother Ram.

A search has been launched for the attackers, police said. RSS
