Nepal, China to dwell on BRI, past deals

The 11th series of Nepal-China Joint Consultative Meeting will assess the understandings reached between the two countries, review the China-funded projects, address bottlenecks in their implementation and suggest way forward.
A Chinese delegation led by Assistant Minister Kong Xuanyou arrived in Kathmandu on Monday leading a five-member delegation. It will be joined by six members from the Embassy of China in Kathmandu for the high-level bilateral meeting.
Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi will lead the Nepali delegation.
Apart from reviewing and updating understandings and pacts reached with China in the past, the meeting will also discuss ways to facilitate Nepal’s entry to the Belt and Road Initiative and dwell on some specific projects.
Foreign Secretary Bairagi said the meeting will review the entire status of bilateral ties and China-funded projects.
Chinese Assistant Minister Kong will also call on Prime Minister Deuba and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Krishna Bahadur Mahara during his stay in Kathmandu.
