A vehicle belonging to the Nepali Congress (NC) mayoral candidate was vandalised in Nepalgunj on Tuesday.

The Scorpio SUV (Ba 14 Cha 1387) which was returning to the party's liaison office after dropping NC candidate Suresh Kanodiya during a door – to – door election campaign at Puraina in ward-22 was vandalised at the Tribhuvan intersection.

Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) leader Lalit Kumar Rauniyar pelted stones at the vehicle, police said.

Police, following the incident, have taken Rauniyar under control.

Leader Kanodiya has urged all the political parties to avoid violence and vandalism during the elections.

"Join the healthy competition, it is the responsibility of all the parties to hold the elections in a fearless environment, the people will vote the person they like," he said. RSS
