Caretaker Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the government is committed to protecting the freedom and autonomy of the National Human Rights Commission.Caretaker Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the government is committed to protecting the freedom and autonomy of the National Human Rights Commission.
Addressing the 17th anniversary function of the NHRC, Dahal said human rights should benefit all the people—the poor, marginalised, elderly, children, differently-abled and the people from far-flung villages—not just upper class and educated people.
He said human rights should come to the rescue of the voiceless and the marginalised. Appreciating the work of the NHRC and its wide reach, he said the local polls will play a major role in creating an environment for guaranteeing human rights in the country by electing people’s representatives to promote grassroots democracy and to implement the constitution promulgated in 2015.
