President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Wednesday accepted the resignation tendered by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

After announcing his resignation in a televised address to the nation, Dahal reached the Office of the President to hand over his resignation.

President Bhandari has thanked the prime minister and his Cabinet members, read a press statement issued by President’s Spokesperson Mohan Prasad Wagle.

President Bhandari has asked the outgoing prime minister to lead a caretaker government until a new government is formed.

According to Article 298 (10) of the Constitution, the Dahal-led Cabinet will continue until a new Cabinet is formed.
