A meeting of the Constitutional Council on Wednesday recommended Tanka Mani Sharma as next Auditor General. Sharma, currently a secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office, had earlier held the post of secretary at the Ministry of General Administration. He has served in various entities of the Finance Ministry before being elevated to the post of secretaries.
The post has been vacant since Bhanu Prasad Acharya retired last year.
The council has sent a letter to the Public Hearing Special Committee under the Legislature-Parliament for a hearing. Under a constitutional provision, the President appoints the auditor general after a public hearing.
