The Lalitpur District Committee of the CPN (Maoist Centre) has expelled lawmaker Yogendra Ghising Tamang for working against the party policy.
Maoist Chief Whip Tek Bahadur Basnet, however, said he has no knowledge about Tamang’s “expulsion”.
The committee on Wednesday expelled Tamang from general membership for acting against the party’s interests and policies, said Hari Dahal, the Lalitpur district in-charge of the Maoists.
He alleged that Tamang was found to be encouraging an independent candidate in the local level elections, rather than supporting the party’s official candidate.
Lawmaker Ghising is also a district secretariat member of the party. He was elected a Constituent Assembly member on the Maoist proportional representation quota.
