Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri unveiled a life-size statue of Ujir Singh Thapa amid a function at Tansen in Palpa on Friday.
Thapa, the then commander of the Nepali troops, led to a famous Nepali victory over the British troops at the Jitgadhi encounter during the Anglo-Nepali war of 1814-1816.
The statue was built jointly by the Palpa Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Chandi Prasad Battalion of Nepal Army. (PR)
