Nepali Congress senior leader Khum Bahadur Khadka has registered a proposal to hold a referendum on restoring Nepal as a Hindu state.Nepali Congress senior leader Khum Bahadur Khadka has registered a proposal to hold a referendum on restoring Nepal as a Hindu state.
During the ongoing NC Central Working Committee meeting on Sunday, Khadka tabled the proposal addressing party President Sher Bahadur Deuba to conclude the debate through the referendum.
Khadka claimed that while taking such important decision, the proposal was not discussed at party central working committee.
“There is an overwhelming support from the people for the Hindu state. The party should not have ignored the democratic exercise like referendum while Nepal was declared a secular nation.
Nepali Congress cannot take the ownership to this decision, so I have registered a proposal at the CWC,” said Khadka, who has been lobbying for the Sanatan Hindu Rastra Maha Abhiyan over the past three years.
He has been supported by some NC leaders, including the Minister for Forest and
Soil Conservation Shankar Bhandari.
