Two Nepalis killed, one missing in Uttarakhand avalanche
Two Nepalis were killed in an avalanche at Pithoragarh of Indian state of Uttarakhand on Saturday.
Two Nepalis were killed in an avalanche at Pithoragarh of Indian state of Uttarakhand on Saturday. One person is still missing. According to Darchula District Police Office, the three migrant workers fell off a cliff after the avalanche in Budi area which witnessed heavy snowfall last week.
Darchula police quoted Indian authorities as saying that rescuers had retrieved the bodies. Around a dozen Nepali workers had reached the area for work. Darchula police identified the victims as Suresh Kunwar of Huti-8, Darchula, and Mohan Bhatta of Mahadev-1, Baitadi.
Bhupendra Kunwar of Huti-1 is missing, said police. DSP Kedar Khanal said the bodies were brought to Dharchula of Pithoragarh on Monday for post-mortem. Indian police are searching for the missing, he added.
