China and France pledge further help in rebuilding efforts

During a meeting with Govind Raj Pokharel, chief executive of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), on Monday, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal
Yu Hong showed China’s interest in extending support to Nepal in the ongoing rebuilding works, especially that of schools, health institutions and historical sites ravaged by the devastating Gorkha Earthquake of April 25, 2015.
Assuring continued Chinese support to Nepal in the coming days, Ambassador Yu stressed timely completion of the development projects being constructed with support from the Chinese government.
Pokharel expressed commitment to speed up the overall reconstruction works that have been delayed due to various process-related and legal hurdles.
“NRA has prioritised co-operation with various development partners to expedite the reconstruction works in the country,” he said.
Also on Monday, CEO Pokharel met French Ambassador to Nepal Yves Carmona to discuss about post-earthquake reconstruction works. Ambassador Carmona said his government is interested to extend additional support to reconstruction works in the education sector.
The NRA authorities and envoy Carmona exchanged thoughts on mobilising technical human resources for the purpose.
