An unidentified gang tried to shoot at one Lalu Khan, of Majhauliya, Siraha, at Mirchaiya-3 on Sunday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Gajusiddi Bajracharya said a shot was fired, but it was likely that the attackers were only trying to intimidate Khan.
The attackers caught Khan and lashed him with canes, they did not shoot him, DSP Bajracharya said. Investigation is underway, he added. (PR)
